I had a recording session last night at The Matrix and we were able to get some good vocal cuts for Almighty. The track is amazing and I can’t wait to be able to share it with all if you soon….
It has been awhile since I have blogged anything. I have been crazy busy with school and only three weeks left till I am done woo hoo ( for this semester at least).
I have done a lot since the last blog. Recorded more scratch vocals and am now getting used to using Garage band to record from home.
Thanks for everyone’s continued prayers for the project. I appreciate everyone’s support and encouragement and as soon as school is over I will blog more…
My wonderful husband got my snowball microphone all working and set up thru garage band in his iPad. Now I can record scratch vocals from home and not have to use my voice memo from my iPhone.
Working on scratch vocals for two more songs: Almighty and This Moment. Stay tuned…
At the matrix tonight listening to guitar tracks bring laid down for one of the tracks. The guitar is sounding fantastic and I am super stoked with how this track is sounding.
I can’t thank Chris Collat enough for lending his talents to this project. I am so blessed to be surrounded with so many amazing musicians.
I am I awe at how God is bringing together so many talented folks that are willing to be a part of this cd project.
I am truly humbled and thankful and am excited to continue on this journey.
Stay tuned…
So after my last session at the matrix, the guys and I chose keys for some of the songs so that they could start arranging. One song in particular we later decided that the key was not quite right so back to the drawing board.
I spent most of the afternoon today practicing the song in numerous keys and am happy to report we have a winner. Drum roll please……. The key if A. :)
Spent the afternoon recording myself to listen back to various keys and after singing each to Amanda she helped
me chose the right one. Amanda offered suggestions on flow, and helped me navigate thru notes and phrasing to get the feel we were looking for. As always she offered encouragement and support and made me feel more comfortable with the song and see how it was coming together.
Now I need to practice in the new key, record myself and listen back and tweak some things and get ready for my scratch vocal in the studio Thursday.
I am excited about this song and can’t wait for you all to hear it when it’s all done.
Thanks for coming along in this journey with me and pray God would continue to bless this project.
Kristen :)
It has been a while since I have blogged about my cd project. The guys are working on arrangements for some of the songs and I am practicing one of the songs and soon will go in and lay down scratch vocals.
More updates later….
Another snippet for you
Had another session at the matrix and we narrowed down the songs for the cd even further. We worked on finding the perfect keys for a few of the tunes and now the production team can start working their magic on the arrangements and laying down some tracks.
I am glad I have such talented folks behind me thru all this to help me navigate thru this journey.
I have been and continue to spend a lot if time listening and really bonding with each song. I have really started to emotionally connect with the lyrics and am excited to see the songs take shape with my voice.
Stay tuned for more updates… I will try not to wait as long between postings this time.
I am home today working on schoolwork while the painters are here. We are having the whole first floor and upstairs hallways repainted. I am enjoying the gorgeous weather on my screened porch and continuing to listen to music to narrow down my song choices for my cd.
Lots going on between school and work and count down to beach is only 9 days away.
Have another session at the matrix next week so keep you posted on the project.
I met Chris Rogers today he is the president of a film, video, audio and multimedia production group. He gave me some great pointers about my cd project and breaking into the business. I appreciate all his input and thanks to Jerry for introducing us. Most valuable tidbit: make sure the cd is not released until it’s ready and test the songs to a non biased audience to see what kind of response they get. Also make sure the songs have a good hook so people will remember them and that lyrics are such that people can relate to.
He also suggested I spend some time in Psalms and Revelation and see if I get any inspiration to write a song.
I am still trying to narrow down my song selections but am much closer to my top 10 selections. I have been able to cross some off the list totally so u am making progress. :) stay tuned….
